The 5th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence Technologies and Applications (ICAITA 2023) Successfully Held

The 5th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence Technologies and Applications (ICATA 2023) was successfully held on July 1, 2023. The conference was hosted by Changchun University of Science and Technology, organized by the School of Electronic Information Engineering of Changchun University of Science and Technology and Academic Exchange Information Center (AEIC), and co-organized by Jilin University, Northeast Normal University, Changchun University of Technology, Changchun Normal University, Changchun University, and Jilin Engineering Normal University. The conference embraced a hybrid format, combining offline and online participation, as well as multiple sub-venues. Focusing on the latest research field of “artificial intelligence technologies and applications”, scholars shared scientific research achievements and cutting-edge technologies in the computer field and discussed the academic development trends. The event attracted over 300 participants, including senior experts, research talents, and young scholars from universities, research institutes, and enterprises worldwide.

Professor Huamin Yang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Changchun University of Science and Technology, represented the university and extended a warm welcome to university leaders and experts in attendance. This conference was presided over by Professor Yang Li from the School of Electronic Information Engineering of Changchun University of Science and Technology.

Nowadays, with the rapid advancements in science and technology, we find ourselves in the era of informationization. Computers have emerged as vital tools in both work and daily life. They not only address our basic needs but also cater to our individualized and intelligent requirements, providing unparalleled convenience and enhancing our overall learning and living experiences.

AI development, the most frequently mentioned area, has also entered a new stage. Drivenparticularly by groundbreaking theories and technologies such as mobile Internet, big data, supercomputing, sensor networks, and brain science, as well as the growing demand for economic and social progress, AI has accelerated its development. This has led to the emergence of new features in AI, including deep learning, cross-border integration, man-machine coordination, the openness of swarm intelligence, and autonomous control, which are triggering a chain breakthrough and accelerating the leap from digitalization and networking to intelligence in various fields of the economy and society.

Within this dynamic context, there arises a need to strengthen theoretical, technical, and applied research on intelligent technologies and services, master the latest and practical technologies, and gain insights into cutting-edge development trends. To foster academic prosperity in the field of AI and its application and promotion in big data, universitieshave taken the initiative to organize this international conference. By inviting global experts, they seek to create a platform for high-level and open exchanges and rich knowledge sharing.

This conference invited sixesteemed experts, namely Professor Qianchuan Zhao from Tsinghua University, Professor Chi Liu from Beijing Institute of Technology, Professor Liang Zhao from Shenyang Aerospace University, Professor Shaohua Luo from Guizhou University, Distinguished Professor Philippe Fournier-Viger from Shenzhen University, and Associate Professor Chuan Lin from Northeastern University, to deliver remarkable presentations respectively, as listed in Table 1. These experts shared remarkable academic achievements in edge computing, computer communication, machine learning applications, and AI applications, and discuss critical challenges and research directions within this domain. The goal was to foster the development and application of theories and technologies in universities and enterprises and provide opportunities for participants to establish business or research contacts and explore potential global partnerships in future careers.
